Participants will explore the roles of different stakeholders in complex contexts or projects, identifying their interests and needs. This workshop serves as a first step in grasping the intricacies of these contexts and projects, helping you to understand and define your own place and role within that complexity.</p>

<p><strong>Challenge #5: Stakeholder mapping exercise</strong> (45 - 100 min.)</p>
<p>We provide you with two example projects with a number of stakeholders. In a group of three, try to match each stakeholder with a hexagon from the stakeholder typology tool 1. <br />Please note: stakeholders are represented as ‘hats’. One individual can wear more than one hat in boundary spanning contexts.</p>
<p><em>Example: in an academic hospital you deal with a doctor as stakeholder. This person recently was appointed as manager of their unit.</em><br /><em>In this example, the doctor in question will be wearing three hats. Being an expert in their medical field, they wear the expert hat. Being a researcher in an academic environment, they will wear the validation hat. Being appointed as manager of the unit, they now wear the ‘tactical hat’.</em></p>
<p>Discuss your allocation in small groups, then we will share some key insights with the whole group. Remember, some situations can be interpreted in multiple ways, so avoid thinking strictly in terms of right or wrong.</p>
